Other Information:Francis enlisted on 28th November 1906. He was 22 years and 1 month old, and was a Baker by trade. He entered the war in France on 13th August 1914, as part of the Regimental Medical Officer's team for the 2nd Bn. Connaught Rangers. On 18th May 1915 he received a gun shot wound to his left arm and was evacuated back to the UK. He returned to the British Expeditionary Force on 13th August 1915. On 1st November 1915 he was appointed acting Corporal with pay. He was killed in action whilst serving with No 11 M.A.C. He was the son of John and Bridget McQueen of Kirkcudbright and husband of Anne Jane Uptill (formerly McQueen) of David Street, Maxwelltown.
