Other Information:George qualified M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. Lond. in 1912. He was a member of the Manchester Medical Society and a senior surgeon at the Manchester Royal Infirmary. George entered the war in France in 1916. He was awarded the Military Cross during action at Flers on 16th September 1916 "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He tended and dressed the wounded under very heavy fire, displaying great courage and determination." After the war he became a celebrated historian and authority on the early days of cricket.
