Other Information:John was educated at Dumfries Academy and Edinburgh University, qualifying M.B., Ch.B. in 1904. He was the author of “Partial Macrosomia” - Jl obstetrics & Gynecology; “Foreign Body removed from Tongue” - BMJ; and “Case of Phleboliths of Upper Arm” - Lancet, all were published in 1906. John gained a commission within the R.A.M.C. (T.F.) at the rank of Lieutenant in January 1914, and was promoted to Captain on 1st April 1915. He was attached to the Kings Own Scottish Borderers, and also served in Italy from August to November 1918. John was Hon. Surgeon at the Royal Salop Infirmary, Shrewsbury and assistant Hon. Surgeon at Ingham Infirmary, South Shields. He was also a medical Referee at the Ministry of Pensions.
