Other Information:William enlisted on 31st December 1912. He was 19 years and 4 months old, and was a Gas Fitter by trade. He entered the war in France on 12th August 1914, as part of the Regimental Medical Officer's team for the 1st Bn. King’s Shropshire Light Infantry. On 3rd May 1915 he was serving with the 19th Field Ambulance when he was awarded 15 days field punishment for being absent. He was wounded in action on 13th October 1916, suffering a gunshot wound to his right leg and shell shock. He was evacuated to England and admitted into the 1st Western General Hospital, Liverpool on the 27th October. He was discharged unfit for further service on 7th September 1917 due to his wounds. At the time of his discharge his unit was given as "attached to the 1st Bn. Notts and Derby Regiment". His address was given as 112 Penton Street, Liverpool.
