Other Information:John enlisted on 14th February 1913. He was 21 years and 1 month old, and was a Mill Worker by trade. He entered the war in France on 16th August 1914 as part of the Regimental Medical Officer's team for the 2nd Bn. King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. He served with the British Expeditionary Force on the Western Front until 14th April 1917. During this time, on 31st April 1916, he was married in Dublin to Mary Tynell. On 10th May 1917 he joined the East Leeds War Hospital for duty. In March 1919 he was employed as a hospital ward orderly at the Sunderland War Hospital. He was transferred to Class "B" Army Reserve on 15th April 1919.
