Other Information:John enlisted on 15th November 1901. He was 18 years and 6 months old, and was a Baker by trade. He entered the war in France on 12th August 1914, as part of the Regimental Medical Officer's team for the 2nd Bn. Lancashire Fusiliers. He was admitted into hospital on 16th November 1914 with a gun shot wound to his scalp. He was discharged from hospital on the 15th December, then on 26th December 1914 was posted to serve with No 13 General Hospital. He was appointed acting Staff/Serjeant (with pay) on 29th April 1916, and on 16th January 1917 was appointed acting Serjeant (with pay). On 1st October 1917 he was posted to serve with the 49th Field Ambulance. He returned to the UK on 27th January 1919, and was discharged at his own request after 18 years service on 16th August 1920. His address at the time was 15 Wharton Road, Bromley, Kent.
