Other Information:Reuben was educated at a New Board School in Durham. He enlisted into the Coldstream Guards in August 1905 but was bought out the following October. He enlisted into the R.A.M.C. in June 1906 and served for three years - passing into the Reserve. He then found employment at Doxford's Yard, Sunderland. Reuben was re-called at the outbreak of war. He mobilized on 5th August 1914, and entered the war in France on the 14th, attached to the 1st Bn. Lincolnshire Regiment. He was wounded at Ypres in the November and was invalided home to Wandsworth Hospital. After he recovered he was deemed unfit for further active service and was placed to serve on the Hospital Ship "Neuralia". He was on a voyage to Bombay when he contracted a fever and was landed at Alexandria. He died at No 15 General Hospital. Rueben was the third son of James (A shipyard Labourer) and Margaret Elizabeth (Daughter of James Jeffries) Natton of Thornsby; and the husband of Rosina Natton (Daughter of Thomas Brown of Eastington] of 14 John Street, Southwick-on-Wear, Sunderland - married at Haswell Paish Church on 27th July 1908.
