Other Information:Richard was educated at Mountjoy School, where he took several Exhibitions; and at Trinity College, Dublin, becoming a Scholar and Moderator in Classics, and qualifying M.B., B.Ch. and B.A.O in July 1915. He obtained at temporary Commission in the R.A.M.C. at the rank of Lieutenant on 7th September 1915, and was promoted to temporary Captain after completing a years service. He was wounded at Ypres on 31st July 1917 and died the next day Richard was the elder son of the Rev. Richard William Ashe Shegog (Rector of Holmpatrick, Skerries, Dublin) and Mary Backas (daughter of the Rev. R Hemphill) Shegog of Skerries, co. Dublin; and the husband of Florence Margaret (daughter of Dr William Sandham Symes) Shegog of "Salcombe" Skerries - married at Skerries on 27th July 1915. They had one son.
