Thomas entered the war in France on 11th August 1914, as part of the Regimental Medical Officer's team for the 1st Bn. Middlesex Regiment. His name appears on a list of R.A.M.C. personnel who were taken captive up to & including 31st December 1914. His address was given as 174 Accrington Road, Burnley - (kindly provided by Steve Mattocks). He was taken to the German prisoner of war camp Sennelager on 10th September 1914. In 1918 was serving with 78 Coy and living at 43 Elvgia Street, Burnley, Lancs.
