Other Information:Roger was educated at Warwick; at St John’s College, Cambridge (where he took his B.A. degree in 1905); and at the London Hospital - entering in 1906, he qualified L.R.C.P., M.R.C.S. in July, 1908, then graduated M.B. B.C. in December 1911. He held the appointment of Emergency Officer in the Hospital, and later the appointment of Clinical Assistant at the Great Ormond Street Hospital. For two years he practiced at Hampstead. Roger joined the Special Reserve of the R.A.M.C. as lieutenant on 30th September 1914, then was promoted to Captain on 1st April 1915. He was sent to France in January 1915, where he became attached to the 1st Bn. Norfolk Regiment, and whilst with them was gassed. He was invalided home, and after recovering was given home service with an R.E. Bridging Tain Plymouth. In January 1916, he was sent to India, attached to the King’s Own at Peshawar, where he soon became staff surgeon, an appointment he held until his death. He was a keen sportsman and a regular follower of hounds at Peshawar. He died as a result of influenza, and was buried at Peshawar British Cemetery (XXVI. 767). Roger was the only son of the Rev. F Brownson of Compton Greenfield, Bristol; and the husband of Gwenllian C Brownson (the third daughter of Lord Dynevor) of 5 Eldorado Crescent, Cheltenham - they married in 1911 and had one daughter.
