Other Information:Robert was educated at Bilton Grange, Harrogate, and at Edinburgh University, where he graduated M.B., Ch.B. in 1907.
He held residence appointments at the Bradford Infirmary and at the Manchester Children’s Hospital before settling in Edinburgh, where he became clinical assistant to the Ear and Throat department of the Royal Infirmary.
For many years he held a Territorial commission in the R.A.M.C. being attached to the 6th Bn. Royal Scots. When called up for permanent duty he qualified as a gas officer and was put in command of the 50th Stationary Hospital at Colchester. Whilst there he caught influenza and succumbed to a secondary pneumonia.
