Other Information:John received his medical education at St Thomas's Hospital, qualifying M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. in 1905. He became house-surgeon to the East London Hospital for Children, Shadwell, and house-physician to the West London Hospital. He then went to South Africa where he served as medical officer to the Beira railways, and began to practice at Buluwayo, the chief town of Southern Rhodesia, where he was medical officer of the Buluwayo Government schools. John took a temporary commission as Lieutenant in the R.A.M.C. on 17th October 1914. He was attached to the Somerset Light Infantry, and entered the war in France in July 1915. He was promoted to captain after a years service. He was the son of the late Rev. Henry Dyke, a vicar of Luscombe, Somersetshire; and the husband of Elizabeth Margaret Acland of 7 Gloucester Place, Marylebone, London.
