Pierce gained a commission in the Medical Services on 26th July 1912. He entered the war in August 1914 and served as the medical officer for the 1st Bn. Wiltshire Regiment. The inscription on his headstone reads "Killed in action whilst attending a wounded comrade at Kemmel" Pierce was the son of the late Pierce Power of Limerick.
