Other Information:Frederick was educated at Epsom College and at the London Hospital - entering in 1884, he qualified L.R.C.P., M.R.C.S. in 1894, having temporarily discontinued his study of medicine from November 1885 to June 1891. For a few years he practiced at West Bridgeford, Notts, and prior to joining up he was practicing at Charibury, Oxon. He took a temporary commission as lieutenant in the R.A.M.C. on 10th July 1915, and was promoted to captain after a year's service. He was given charge of the wards at Sidmouth Barracks before being appointed to the hospital ship "Britannic". He entered the war in France on 4th September 1916. It has been recorded that he had served at the Thornhill Camp, Winchester, at a convalescent camp in France, and a field ambulance. Also that he had recently been serving as physician at Tidworth Military Hospital before becoming a RMO for the 1st Bn. Wiltshire Regiment. Frederick was the elder son of Thomas George Brooke, surgeon of Langport, Somerset; and the husband of Constance Blance (daughter of the Rev. Francis Wellington Moore of Duffield. They had 7 children - their son, Lieutenant Cecil Rupert Brooke, Gordon Highlanders, was killed in France on 24th April 1917. *Their seventh child, Lancelot Thomas Brooke, was born on 29th October 1906.
