Henry qualified M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. in 1908, and gained a commission within the Medical Services on 30th January 1909. He had served in India in 1911 but was invalided home and was serving in the London District when war was declared. Henry disembarked for France on 5th August 1914. He was the son of William James and Henrietta Nolan of 12A Okhillcourt, Okhill Road, Putney, London.
