Benjamin enlisted on 7th March 1896. He entered the war in France on 17th August 1914 as part of the Regimental Medical Officer's team for the 1st Divisional Train. He was discharged due the termination of his engagement on 7th April 1917. He was 42 years and 1 month old at the time.
