Other Information:Thomas enlisted on 22nd February 1915. He was 31 years and 2 months old, a miner by trade, and was living at 57 Longford Lane, Bridgetown, Cannock, Staffs at the time. When completing his training, he was sent to a Hospital at Dover, where he acted as an Orderly. He was then transferred to Egypt - leaving on 25th July 1915, he entered the war in the Balkans on 7th August 1915. He was sent to Mustapha Barrackes, Alexandria, serving there until 18th April 1916. Thomas was transferred to serve on H.M.H.S. "Dongola", and proceeded to India via Port Said. On the 24th June he was transferred to serve on H.M.H.S. "Galika" and lost his life when the ship was sunk by a mine explosion near the Havre at 6 a.m. on 28th September 1916. Thomas was the son of Mr and Mrs J Dutton of "Huntington View," 50, Pye Green Rd., Cannock; and the husband of E Dutton, of the same address as above.
