Other Information:Charles enlisted on 13th January 1916 but was discharged as unfit for war service, he was 30 years old, a hatter by trade, and living at Malta Villa, Atherstone, Warwick at the time. On 9th August 1917 he was remobilized, and on 11th joined the R.A.M.C. and posted to 'S' Coy. On 25th February 1918 he embarked on H.M.H.S. 'Glenart Castle' and was reported missing, believed drowned on 26th after the hospital ship was torpedoed. His death was accepted by the War Office on lapse of time. Charles was the son of Thomas and Gertrude Clamp of Hill Top, Atherstone and the husband of Gertrude Champ of Heartbottle Yard.
