Other Information:Samuel enlisted on 10th December 1915 but was not mobilized until the 9th August 1917. He was 32 years and 18 days old, a Hoisery Maker and lived at 68 Trinity Lane, Hinckley at the time. On mobilization, Samuel was posted to 'S' Coy and remained there until 12th September 1917, when he was posted to No 11 Coy. On 6th February 1918, he was posted again to 'C' Coy and then on the 25th, the same month, was posted to serve on H.M.H.S. Glenart Castle. Samuel survived when the hospital ship was torpedoed the next day. He left Southhampton for Havre on 3rd April 1918 and was posted to serve with No 35 General Hospital. He returned to England on 29th December the same year. Samuel was discharged 'No longer physically fit for war service on 22nd March 1919
