Dr Loftus was an American phyician and surgeon from Old Forge, Pennsylvania, USA who volunteered for service with the British Army before the USA entered the war. He received a commission Lieutenant on the 2nd June 1917 and attended army medical school from 7th August 1917 - 6th September 1917. [Information and photograph kindly provided by John's grandson]
