Other Information:Philip was educated at the Victoria University, Manchester, where he graduated M.B., Ch.B. in 1906. He then took the diplomas of F.R.C.S. at the London Hospital in 1913.
Whilst a student he filled the posts of senior demonstrator in physiology and assistant demonstrator in anatomy at Victoria University. He then became house-surgeon at Manchester Royal Infirmary and at the Throat Hospital, Golden Square, London. He took a temporary commission as lieutenant in the R.A.M.C. on 16th August 1914, and entered the war in France on 24th August 1914, with No 3 General Hospital. He was promoted to Captain after a year’s service. Philip died of septicemia at Horton War Hospital. He was the only son of Dr Ferguson of Manchester; and the husband of Gwendolen Ferguson of Primrose House, Oldham.
