Charles Newland came from Wrexham in North Wales. Charles was a regular soldier at the outbreak of hostilities, he first entered the Theatre of the Great War on the 20th August 1914 with the 1st General Hospital based at Le Havre. Charles later transferred to 33 Field Ambulance. As well as being awarded the MM, Charles was also later awarded the Army LS&GC Medal. [Special thanks to Michael W Cook]
