Other Information:Tom was a member of the Darwen Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade who offered their services for the front. He enlisted on 8th August 1914, then proceeded to Aldershot. [Information courtesy of Tony Foster] He was 34 years and 11 months old; was an Insurance Agent by trade; and was living at 607 Blackburn Road, Darwin at the time. He was posted to serve with the 19th Field Ambulance but was detained at West Croydon and separated from the unit. He entered war in France on 20th August 1914. He was attached to a different unit then posted to No 3 Base Details back at Havre. On 18th October he was posted to serve with 6 General Hospital, and remained with this unit throughout the war. On 30 May 1919, he proceeded to England for demobilization, and was transferred to the Reserve - Class Z on 29th June 1919. He was the husband of Harriet Ann Holden [Nee Hunt] - married in Darwen on 2nd February 1904.
