Other Information:Albert received his medical training at the Rotunda Hospital Dublin, qualifying L.R.C.P.I. & L.M. 1885. He gained a commission in the Medical Services at the rank of Captain on 28th July 1886, then gained promotion to Major on 5th April 1899. From 1899 to 1902 he saw active service in South Africa, gaining the Queen’s Medal & 2 clasps, and the King’s Medal & 2 clasps. On 28 July 1906 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, then received promotion to the rank of Colonel on 1st March 1914. At the outbreak of war, Albert was serving in Woolwich. He formed No 4 Stationary Hospital in Woolwich becoming the Commanding Officer, then sailed with the unit from Southampton to Le Havre, entering the war on 25th August 1914. In 1915 he was awarded a Companion Order of St Michael & St George.
