Other Information:Henry was educated at Repton School, Derbyshire, and at Guys Hospital, qualifying M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. in 1895. He gained a commission in the Medical Services at the rank of Lieutenant on 29th July 1896, then on 29 July 1899 gained promotion to the rank of Captain. In 1903 he gained a diploma in public health [D.P.H], then on 29th July 1908 he gained further promotion to the rank of Major. At the outbreak of war Henry was stationed at Mill Hill. He travelled to Woolwich, forming No 6 Stationary Hospital there, and becoming the Commanding Officer, taking up the temporary rank of Lieutenant Colonel from 27th August 1914 to 28th February 1915. He travelled with the unit to France, entering the war on 26th August 1914. On 1st March 1915 he gained promotion to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, then served under the rank of acting Colonel from 18th November 1916. During 1916 he became the Assistant Director of Medical Services, 5th Division. In 1918 he was serving with the Italian Expeditionary Force. As well as being awarded the DCM and MiD, Henry received the Order of St Anne, Russia, 2nd Class with Swords, and the Order of Crown of Italy, 1918. During his army career he was a sanitary officer at the Straits Settlement. Henry was the son of Rev. J Hewetson of Measham; and the husband of Margaret Elizabeth, daughter of H Buse.
