Other Information:Alfred enlisted on 10th December 1915. He was 18 years and 9 months old, was an Engineers Apprentice by trade - at the Jap Motor Works, and was living at 52 Birkbeck Road, Tottenham, London at the time. He was sent to Army Reserve and mobilized on 9th October 1916, then posted to "G" Coy. On 11th November he was transferred to No 9 Coy, and was for four months a Nursing Orderly at Edmonton Military Hospital. Alfred embarked at Southampton on 28th April 1917, with the 41st Stationary Hospital, then disembarking the next day at Havre, he entered the war in France on 29th April 1917. He became ill (PUO) on 12th November and admitted into No 2 Canadian Casualty CLearing Station. He joined Base Details on 12th November, shortly after being discharged. Alfred was then posted to serve with the 37th Field Ambulance, in the field. He was killed at Albert by the explosion of a shell during the German Offensive. His Commanding Officer wrote: "He was a good lad, and carried out his duties satisfactorily, and I am grieved at the sad loss." Alfred was the nephew of William George Burn of the same address as above.
