Other Information:Dan was educated at Belvedere College and left in 1909, having passed his Matriculation Examination. He studied medicine at University, and after he qualified practised for some years as a doctor. In 1918 he married a Miss Phelan, in the same year he joined the Royal Army Medical Corps. During September 1918, Dan was sent to India. A year later he was to return home on leave, however he missed the boat and had to wait a few days for the next boat. The delay proved fatal, for in those extra days he contracted dysentery. The disease was particularly violent and he soon became resigned to the fact that he would not recover. He was given the Last Rites of the church. It is documented that Dan died peacefully on Saturday 27 September 1919.
