Other Information:Fred was appointed to the Durham County Constabulary on 1st March 1904 as PC 636, 3rd class constable. On 31st March 1904 he was at West Hartlepool. A year later, on 1st March 1905, he was appointed a 2nd class PC. He was fined, severely reprimanded and cautioned on 31st July 1905 for being under the influence of drink and absenting himself from duty. He left the police force to join the colours to support the war effort, entering the war in the Balkans on 13th December 1915. He was the son of Francis and Sarah Corner, and the husband of Rebecca Corner (nee Mais) - married at St Cuthberts Church, Darlington. [Information researched and kindly provided by John Grainger]
