Other Information:In 1911 Richard was living at 5 Newton on Hill, and was working as a grocer's assistant. He enlisted into the RAMC along with his brother Percy in early 1915. Both entered the war in France, with the 129th Field Ambulance on 2nd December 1915, and remained with them throughout the war. Richard's brother Percy records an incident in which both were gassed (see Percy William Micklewright's profile). According to the Unit war diary, Richard was admitted sick into the 130th Field Ambulance on 2nd August, then returned to duty on the 7th, although there is no mention that it was related to the gas attack. Richard survived the war. He died in Cheshire in 1964. (Information and photograph kindly provided by Greg Miller)
