Other Information:Wilfred was educated at Charterhouse and Liverpool University College, and at Edinburgh University - entering as a student of medicine in 1890, he graduated M.B., C.M. in 1896, and M.D. in 1900. During his time there he took a great interest in sports, and on several occasions represented the university at association football.
He had held the office of house-surgeon to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, and then became assistant to Dr Maclaren, the senior surgeon at he Carlisle Infirmary. He settled in practice in Leicester in 1900 and was late chairman and honorary secretary of the Leicester and Rutland Division of the British Medical Association.
Wilfred joined the Territorial Force in 1908, and was mobilized with his unit when war broke out. He had served on the staff of the base hospital since November 1914. He died after a short illness following an operation. Wilfred was the Son of John Gibbons, of Mossley Hill, Liverpool, and the husband of Mabel Gibbons, of "Camelot" Mossley Hill, Liverpool - married in 1901, and had two children.
