William enlisted on 1st March 1915. He was 32 years and 180 days old, a Collier by trade and living at 22 Bangor Street, Bolton at the time. He was posted to 7 Coy on 14th April but admitted to hospital on the 30th June, diagnosis 'Dyspepsia' due to bad teeth. He was discharged from hospital on the 24th August and was discharged permanantly unfit for war service on 7th September 1915. [Information source: Pension record]
