Frederick enlisted and was embodied into the R.A.M.C. [T.F.] on 8th November 1914, he was 25 years and 4 month old, and a booksellers assistant working for Bowes and Bowes at 1 Trinity Street, Cambridge at the time. On 16th October 1915, he was sent to serve on the Hospital Ship "Braemere Castle", serving in Malta from the 3rd December 1916 he was invalided back to the UK on the 13th December, arriving back on the 21st. On 12th April 1917 he was posted to "R" Coy in Blackpool and then embarked at Southampton with No 55 General Hospital on the 16th, entering the war in France on 17th April 1917. He was appointed acting Lance Corporal on 15th June 1917 and promoted to Serjeant on 14th January 1918. On the 3rd December he was admitted into hospital suffering from trench fever and was invalided back to the UK. He was disembodied on demobilization on 21st March 1919. He was finally discharged from the army on 31st March 1920. *Frederick died at , Cambridge, Cambs.* He was the son of Mrs R Webb of 82 Ainsworth Street, Cambridge.
