Albert enlisted on 3rd May 1915. He was 23 years and 9 months old; a Painter by trade; and had been living with his father at 47 Sydenham Road, Knowle, Bristol for about 3 years. He embarked at Southampton on 17th June 1917, then disembarking at Havre the next day entered the war in France on 18th June 1917. He embarked again at Havre and arrived in Rouen on 22nd June 1917, when he joined the Cyclists Base Depot. He was posted to serve with the 34th Field Ambulance, in the field, on 28th June 1917. Albert was the son of John Thomas and Jane Whitehead of the same address as above.
