Ernest enlisted into the Teritorial Force but it would appear that he did not serve abroad. The Westminster Polytechnic Volunteer Training Corps attestation paper, dated 24th November 1914, and a manuscript of the Poly Roll of Honour list Ernest as residing at 53 Peckham Road, Camberwell. His height was 5'4" and his chest 33”. The CWGC have recorded that Ernest died as a result of an accident, and the Poly Roll of Honour states 'killed by motor'. [Information kindly provided by Anthony Gorst]. Ernest's headstone states he "was killed whilst going to do duty at King's College Hospital" [Photograph courtesy of Phil Evans]. Ernest was the son of Florence L. Forcey (formerly Geddes) of 53 Peckham Road, Camberwell, London, and the late Thomas Geddes.
