Other Information:Charles enlisted on 7th August 1914. He was 17 years and 11 months old and a Clerk by trade, employed by the Ipswich Education Committee. He was embodied into the 1/1st East Anglian Field Ambulance and joined the M.E.F. on 22nd July 1915.
He was serving in Gallipoli when he was admitted into his unit on 2nd September 1915, suffering with enteritis and transferred to 14 Casualty Clearing Station. He was transferred through the chain of evacuation to Malta and sent to the UK on board the H.S. "Panama" on 27th January 1916. On 22nd September he embarked at Southampton with reinforcements for the 1/1st East Anglian Field Ambulance, and re-joined them in the field on 23rd November 1916. Charles was the son of Mr and Mrs C E Rolfe of 15 Avenue Approach, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk.
