Other Information:Frederick enlisted on 3rd March 1915. He was 19 years and 1 month old; was a shop assistant by trade, employed by Mr Lucus, Middle Row, Maidstone; and was living at 91 Melville Road, Maidstone at the time. He was immediately embodied into the 3/1st Home Counties Field Ambulance, then transferred to the 2/1st Home Counties Field Ambulance on 15th July 1915. He embarked at Southampton on 23rd January 1917, then disembarking at Havre the next day entered the war in France on 24th January 1917. *When Frederick was killed his serjeant wrote to his mother: "In tendering you my heartfelt sympathy, I do so knowing something of your great loss, because he was a real fine fellow - being in my section I had a fine opportunity of knowing him - and his loss is a great blow to me, as well as all of his comrades, by whom he was held in great respect. His death was painless, being instantaneous. I have since seen him, and he looks quite peaceful. He died doing his duty - the great duty of saving others."
