Other Information:Samuel enlisted on 12th October 1915. He was 21 years and 6 months old, and was a Mill Hand by trade. His home address was 22 Victoria Row, Lowtown, Pudsey, Yorkshire. On 31st December 1915, he embarked at Southampton, then disembarking the next day entered the war in France on 1st January 1916. He was proceeded to the Assistant Director of Medical Service, 1st Division, arriving on the 5th, and posted to serve with the 141st Field Ambulance. On 23rd July 1916 he suffered a �GSW� to his chin, whilst being attached to No 2 Field Ambulance. He was admitted into the hospital of the 1st Field Ambulance, then on 25th July 1916 was evacuated back to No 2 Canadian General Hospital, and onto England on the 27th. From 29th July 1916 to 20th November 1917 he was treated at The Queen Alexander Military Hospital, at the Banock Hospital, at Millbank SE, at Paddington VAD Hospital, at CED Lawn Military Hospital, and at Fusehill War Hospital. On 12th October 1917 he was examined and was passed fit for service to begin on 17th December 1917. On 13th March 1918 he was en-route to Salonika, arriving on 29th March 1918. He served with the British Salonika Force from 30th March 1918 to 12th March 1919. During which time he was stationed with No 80 General Hospital and No 29 General Hospital - joining first for temporary duty on 19th December 1918, then taken on the strength of the unit on 4th January 1919. He began his journey back to the UK on 13th March 1919, arriving on the 29th he served the remainder of his service in the UK until he was demobilized on 25th April 1919.
