Other Information:Bevis enlisted on 24th March 1915. He was 42 years and 2 months old; was a Nurse by trade; and was living at 43 High Street, Ramsgate at the time. He was posted to the 90th Field Ambulance on 6th May 1915 but shortly after transferred to the 141st Field Ambulance. He embarked at Southampton on 10th August 1915, then disembarking the next day, entered the war in France on 11th August 1915. On 5th November 1915 he was appointed acting Lance Corporal, then acting Corporal on 8th February 1916. On 12th September 1916 he reverted back to the permanent rank of Private on being admitted to the hospital of his unit suffering with Rheumatism Varicose Veins in his left leg, and was evacuated to No 28 Casualty Clearing Station. The following day, 13th September he was evacuated to No 5 General Hospital, via No 8 Ambulance Train, then on the 16th September sent to England, via the Hospital Ship "Lanfranc". He was discharged "no longer physically fit for war service' on 2nd February 1917.
