Other Information:Herbert enlisted on 25th February 1915 and was embodied into the East Anglian Casualty Clearing Station, Territorial Force. He was 39 years and 6 months old. He entered the war in Egypt on 11th August 1915. His body was never found and was believed to have drowned on the sinking of H.M.T. "Royal Edward" on passage from Alexandria to Gallipoli. Herbert was the son of Hilda and the late William Wills of 4 Alms Houses, Cottesbrooke, Northants; and the husband of Phillis Wills of Baker's Lane, Walgrave, Northants. He was also the bother of 135 Pte Fred Wills R.A.M.C., who also lost his life in the sinking of H.M.T. "Royal Edward".
