William resided at Church Street Boughton Monchelsea Maidstone. He was a garden/house lad. He enlisted on 19th October 1914 with the 1st Home Counties RAMC TF. He was sent to France on 23rd January 1917 and arrived at Le Havre on the 24th January 1917. In action with the 58th London division he received a shell wound to the head and died from his wounds at either the 46th or 64th CCS. Tragically his father with the exactly the same name had been killed on the HMS Spey on 7th March the same year. He is remembered at B Monchelsea St Peters Church.
