Percival resided at 65 Loose Road Maidstone, He was a fitter by trade. He enlisted on 16th March 1915 with the 1st Home Counties Field Ambulance. He was sent to France on 23rd January 1917 and arrived in Le Havre on the 24th January 1917 and served with the 2/1st Home Counties Field Ambulance. When at Villers Brettoneux he was badly gassed on 18th April 1918 whilst rescuing soldiers from cellars and received the MM for Bravery in the field. He was later diagnosed of having vascular disease of the heart [VDH] but he continued in the service until 9th July 1920.
