Charles worked at The Supply Store High Street, Aylesford as a carpenter. He enlisted with the 1st Home Counties Field Ambulance on 8th March 1915. He was sent to France on the 23rd January 1917 and arrived in Le Havre on 24th January 1917 and served with the 2/1st Home Counties Field Ambulance.
He received wounds from a gas shell during the Battle of Villiers Brettonneux. He died at No 6 General Hospital, Rouen from his wounds. After the war his medals were given to his brother H Easton who was serving with 10th Battalion Essex Regiment. He is commemorated on the Aylesford War Memorial Maidstone.
