At the time of Ernest's death, the Register of Soldier's effects notes that his father, George Henry, was an inmate of Huddersfield Asylum. So why was Ernest buried in Holmfirth when he appears to have no connection with there?
The answer may lie in the 1911 census. In this record, Ernest and his father are shown living on Manchester St, Huddersfield with a housekeeper named as Esther Noble and her son Stanley aged 10. Esther was born and grew up in the Holmfirth area, some eight miles from Huddersfield. It may be that it was she who arranged his funeral.
